The AIA Columbus LGBTQIA+ Alliance Group is organizing a group to participate in the Stonewall Columbus Pride March on June 15, 2024. This alliance group is one of 15 in the United States and the first of its kind in Ohio. The annual Stonewall Columbus Pride March brings together the LGBTQ+ community, our allies, and our supporters to stand up for rights and justice for all in these communities who are still oppressed and unheard, and to commemorate and celebrate our collective accomplishments and those of whom have paved the way before us. We believe it is important for us to have a presence in the march as we strive to make the design community a welcoming space for all. We will have the opportunity to gather at the Center for Architecture and Design (50 W Town St, Suite 110, Columbus, OH 43215) on the morning of June 15 before the march starts. All members of the LGBTQIA+ community, queer designers, and Allies are welcome and encouraged to join us in the march. There is a fee of $7 for each participant.
About the march:
The march steps off at 10:30 AM from High St and Broad St and travels north on High St towards Goodale Park. The march typically takes about 60-75 minutes to travel the approximate 2 mile route from formation to dispersal. The march is expected to include over 250 groups and will draw thousands of spectators. Marchers are encouraged to plan for food, water, sunscreen, and any other necessities they may need during the day.
We are sold out for the Pride March but stay tuned for more LGBTQIA+ Alliance Group meetings.
