Kenyon College is conducting a search for a qualified candidate to fill the position of Space Planner/Small Projects Manager. Reporting to the Director for Design and Construction (D&C), the Space Planner/Small Projects Manager is responsible for planning, coordinating and organizing the activities associated with facilities space planning for all Kenyon College departments. Duties include: coordinating and managing the long- and short-term space planning needs for the college; maintaining a current facility and furniture inventory; updating and revising information in a computerized or automated format system.  Other responsibilities include: monitoring requests; maintaining databases, project files, spreadsheets and related documentation on new construction, renovations, remodels, and expansions; meeting with affected departments to recommend changes in space utilization or assignment; and identifying and resolving conflicts associated with space planning. Space Planning is integral to the annual B&G/R&R request process and the successful candidate will work closely with the D&C Director and the Construction Project Managers to manage and prioritize the request process.

As a Small Projects Manager, responsibilities include meeting with representatives from all Kenyon College departments to identify project requirements, delivery timelines and costs.  The successful candidate will work with the Director of D&C and, as required, consultants, to develop detailed project plans. Other duties include: establishing and monitoring budgets for small projects, monitoring construction work, monitoring project performance to ensure timely delivery, compiling and submitting project status reports to the Director.

The Space Planner / Small Projects Manager must have excellent communication skills. The successful candidate will work effectively with relevant stakeholders and be able to communicate both verbally and through visual presentations to all Kenyon College stakeholders.

Minimum Qualifications

  • B.S. in Engineering, Project or Construction Management, architecture, interior design, or other relevant discipline.
  • Any combination of education or related training with experience in space planning and project management.
  • Must have excellent computer skills with a working knowledge of software related to design and construction industry.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple competing priorities and projects.
  • Must have a valid Driver License and complete Kenyon College Driver Training.
  • Employment is contingent upon satisfactory results of a due diligence background check.

Normal work week is 7:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.  Flexible scheduling and work during non-traditional hours are expected in the normal course of business for this position as needed to ensure effective project delivery.
