AIA Columbus sponsored the Future City Ohio competition. Aimée Moore, Assoc. AIA, and Erin Reilly-Sanders, AIA, were judges for the architectural model award. Indian Hill Middle School received the Best Architectural Model Award with honorable mention going to Crestview Middle School. Photos of both models are below.
Future City is a hands-on cross-curricular educational program that brings STEM to life for middle school students. Using the Engineering Design Process and project management skills, students showcase their solutions to a citywide sustainability issue. Each team prepares an essay, physical model, project plan, and presentation for their city. This year’s challenge asked students to build a 100% electrically powered city with energy generated from sources that keep your citizens and the environment healthy and safe.
