Job Duties:

Ohio Department of Public Safety – Facilities Management
Report in location: 1970 West Broad Street, Columbus, Ohio 43223Under direction from the Architect Administrator within the Ohio Department of Public Safety (ODPS) Office of Facility Management, assist in reviewing & preparing architectural drawings, plans & designs for new construction, repair, improvement or alteration of existing ODPS facilities statewide (e. g., interpret construction drawings; assist in writing & creating plans & contract documents for remodel or reconstruction; evaluate information of construction, engineering or architectural nature); Develop & maintain master files & project assignments in architectural software (i.e., Auto CAD; REVIT)); Assist in resolving inconsistencies between built construction & construction drawings to accurately represent construction conditions in master files.

Provide assistance with architectural & engineering design problems or policies (e.g., research & analyze information & make recommendations to resolve disputes; changes to architectural plans & specifications; ensure compliance with applicable building codes); Assist in preparing reports (e.g., consultant findings; project progress); Assist in conducting meetings to review progress of projects under construction/renovation; Coordinate with ODPS management, construction consultants &/or vendors during all phases of design process.

Assist Director of Facility Management in design functions as applicable; Maintain filing of project information & communication; Communicate with consultants, contractors & other government officials on project related matters; Perform other related duties as assigned

Qualifications

Completion of associate core program in architecture

MAJOR WORKER CHARACTERISTICS

KNOWLEDGE: *Office Practices & Procedures (Facility Management); Agency Policies & Procedures (ODPS); *Government Structure & Process (State of Ohio building codes & related regulations applicable to projects); Engineering (Architectural & engineering mechanics & graphics).

SKILL: Word Processing (Microsoft Office Applications; Auto CAD; REVIT); Equipment Operations (General Office Equipment).

ABILITY: Understand practical field of study (e.g., engineering, business administration) (Architecture); deal with many variables & determine specific action (Review &/or draw plans & specifications in compliance with applicable building codes & related regulations); maintain accurate records; prepare meaningful, concise & accurate reports; gather, collate & classify information about data, people or things; cooperate with co-workers on group projects; develop good rapport with consultants &/or vendors.
