Led by architects from Acock Associates Architects, this tour will guide participants through the William Hall II Complex. William Hall II is a student housing project for 540 students for The Ohio State University. The first part of the Tour will focus on the design challenges of providing a variety of naturally lit spaces for students to sleep, interact, and study in an effort to make this building more of a community and less of a dormitory. William Hall is also designed to be LEED certified, and the tour will also focus on lighting, shading, building skin design and other strategies to achieve this.
The second part of the tour will focus on engineering strategies to achieve ASHRAE 90.1 and exceed by 30%. These include:
- On-site renewable energy: 50 geothermal wells.
- Energy recovery systems
- Storm water sewage
