Built in the late 1800s, the Lazarus house was home to the Lazarus family, one of the most prominent families in the Columbus at the time.  The Lazarus family often hosted parties for local socialites and movers and shakers.  In 2014, historic preservation specialists split the home into three apartments after concerns the house would be torn down and replaced with a parking lot.  The current owners purchased the house in 2020 and began their renovations in April 2021.  When the renovations are complete, the home will include a first-floor luxury apartment as well as a four-bedroom, four-bathroom residence for the owners on the second and third floor.  The third floor was previously an attic but is being finished into bedrooms for the owner’s children.  A 1940s addition on the back of the house will be used as a short-term rental.  The house is over 7,000 square feet in total.  The owners also plan to add a 1,000 square foot rooftop patio.  Despite multiple renovations over the 120+ year life of the home, many historic features have been preserved, including the grand staircase and parquet flooring.

The restoration was designed by Midland Architecture and Sullivan Builders is responsible for the construction.
