Building Partnerships

In early June, Columbus Mayor Andrew Ginther and AIA President Dan Hart sat on an architecture panel at the US Conference of Mayors.  The panel was a unique discussion led by AIA architects focused on equitably improving energy efficiency and reducing carbon emissions in both new and existing buildings. AIA leaders were joined by mayors to discuss how mayors and architects can work together to achieve zero emissions and add value.  Mayor Ginther commented on the City of Columbus’ collaboration with AIA Columbus.  Examples of this collaboration include the affordable housing competition and Columbus Climate Action Plan working groups.  The AIA Columbus Committee on the Environment (COTE) has engaged with the City to learn more about the Columbus Climate Action Plan (CAP) and hosted a panel to share the City’s climate initiatives with a wider audience.
