The Nationwide Children’s Hospital (NCH) Inpatient Expansion Project enables a major expansion of inpatient and critical care facilities on the NCH main campus in Columbus, Ohio. As part of a larger master plan, the scope includes a high-rise critical care facility connected to the existing inpatient tower, expansion of a central utility plant, loading dock and other ancillary support services, and an underground parking garage with a green roof that serves as an extension of the campus landscape design. The more than 1 million sf project is currently under construction and is scheduled to open in phases between late 2027 and 2028.
The presentation will focus on the design and planning of each of the major project components as well as an overview of the design process which has included extensive use of mockups and simulations.
