BIG BIM Bang

The webinar will demonstrate how project data from two owners, the Foundation for California Community Colleges and Kaiser Permanente, share project data from early design, through construction and into the life-cycle.

Sharing project data is commonly seen as a challenge, but the reality is that it is possible to move data between BIM and other tools and effectively use it on projects today. Learn how the building industry can effectively use big data and BIM.

Presenters will include architects, builders, engineers, and owners. In a recent BIMStorm, 155 teams used over 35 tools to collaborate with BIM. This webinar will show some of the results. Technology topics to be addressed: Building Information Modeling (BIM), Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Construction Operations Building Information Exchange (COBie), Facility Management and Operations, Web Services, BIG Data.

The discussion in the AIA Columbus offices after the webinar will feature Michael Scarmack, AIA, who participated in the event and has been actively involved in BIMStorms since their inception for the AIA Award winning BIMStorm Los Angeles. “This BIMStorm has taken things to another level and makes it easier to understand the immediate and high value benefits of web-based business processes for a building’s entire life-cycle.” Scarmack says.

Because BIMStorms allow all building industry stakeholders including legislatures and real estate financiers, it is possible for building professionals to explore web-based business processes that dramatically improve productivity for enterprise-level owners.

Healthcare building owners, higher education building owners and those who serve them will see directly applicable demonstrations. Others will be able to see business processes they will want to replicate in their markets.
