Sustainable Site Design from Theory to Practical Applications

Brian Quackenbush, PE, LEED AP

Brian oversees design and project management of site/civil engineering for both commercial and residential projects. He specializes in large scale projects that involve complex coordination with the project design team to prepare master plans and construction documents that address the logistics of the unique needs of the developing site. His efforts include managing multiple integral design teams to complete the public infrastructure improvements necessary to support a project as well as the on-site infrastructure improvements to ensure that all work is fully coordinated and delivered on schedule. 

Brian is a graduate of Ohio Northern University where he earned a Bachelor of Science in civil engineering. He is a registered professional engineer in both Ohio and Illinois, as well as a LEED Accredited Professional through the US Green Building Council. Brian is a founding member of EMH&T’s NextGenerationGreen initiative that focuses on the sustainable design elements of a project that make business sense for the project’s owner. He has presented dozens of presentations on sustainable designs as they apply to site civil design on new developments, and he has personally designed and administered construction of sustainable features throughout Ohio. He is an authority on stormwater BMP design, application, cost analysis, and maintenance. 

Brian serves as the Advocacy Co-Chair with the Central Ohio Chapter of the US Green Building Council. 

 

 

 

ChrisFleming

Christopher Fleming, PE, LEED AP

Chris is responsible for project management and site design for healthcare, corporate, academic, recreational facilities, and retail developments throughout Ohio on behalf of EMH&T, the largest Ohio-based engineering consulting firm in the state. 

Chris is a 1994 graduate of the University of Cincinnati where he earned his bachelor’s degree in civil engineering. He is a registered professional engineer in Ohio and LEED certified. He is a leader in his field and a founding member of EMH&T’s NextGenerationGreen program, dedicated to educating on and implementing LEED and sustainable practices. Chris has also performed training seminars for pavement design and rehabilitation, storm water detention calculations, stormwater quality design and site utility design. He is a registered provider for AIA/CES and is currently performing seminars on Green site design. 

Chris is an active member of the American Institute of Architects Columbus branch and serves on its public affairs committee. He is a board member of the Center for Architecture + Design, which is a not-for-profit group promoting good design in Central Ohio. He is also a board member of the Columbus Early Learning Center, a not-for-profit organization that has been providing early childcare and education in Columbus for over 100 years. He sits on the facility committee for each board.
