Battelle's Soy-Based Research and Development Presented by Barry McGraw, Deputy Director of Internal Research and Development Office, National Security Global Business Division Battelle has been working for many years with the Ohio Soybean Council on the development of new products made from soybeans. Barry will present information about the research and development of these soy-based products.
A Problem and Solution Case Study in the Emerging Green Industry Presented by David Coho, Vice President of Sales & Marketing at Algaeventure Systems (a Univenture, Inc. company) David will speak about the process that Algaeventure went through in solving the challenge for algae growth for use in the production of fuels, food, feed and plastics. The solution is a low cost dewatering process, which recently gained major funding from the Department of Energy (DOE) for continued development of this technology. DOE described this as a "potentially transformative innovation."
Bringing Soy-based Products to Consumers Presented by Steve Caminati of the Ohio Soybean Council. The Ohio Soybean Council presentation will touch on the history and context of agriculturally derived bioproducts, and their place in today's consumer market. Highlighting Ohio derived products and soy-made products, the OSC presentation will show the broad range of products made today, and the Council's unprecedented efforts to make consumers aware of their availability. Rocky will also speak briefly about current federal, state and local government initiatives to encourage the use of bioproducts.
Univenture and the 'Green' Products Market Presented by Jim Greers, Director of Sales at Univenture, Inc. This presentation will focus on specific products that Univenture manufactures using alternative or "green" materials. Included in this will be details on the various products, any changes to the way they are manufactured due to the difference in the material makeup, how they are used in the marketplace, and any other differences between the "green" product and the same product made using conventional materials. Additionally, Jim will talk about the specific customers who have ordered these products, the reasons they have for pursuing these new materials, and other "green" products they may use along with ours to make a completely "green product and packaging" program.
